And who was the "mixed crowd"? Were they Lilies, Ethiopians or Cypriots? Weren't all Egyptians and not all from Egypt? Had they been a mixture of many different nations, the plural verb 'Alu would not have been used instead of the singular Ala (Ex. XII, 38)
In fact, however, the "mixed multitude" consisted entirely of a people whose members spoke one language: namely, all the magicians of Egypt and all their magicians, as it is written, "And the magicians of Egypt also did it. in the same way with your incantations" (Ex 7, 2)
